Barton Springs Municipal Pool, Natural spring-fed swimming pool in Zilker Park, Austin, United States.
The three-acre pool stretches across limestone bedrock, filled with water from underground springs that maintain a temperature between 68 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit.
William Barton settled near the springs in 1837, and the city of Austin acquired the property from Andrew Zilker in 1918 to create a public swimming facility.
The pool serves as a gathering place for Austin residents, drawing 800,000 visitors yearly for swimming, exercising, and social interactions.
The facility operates daily from 5 AM to 10 PM, with guarded swim hours from 8 AM to 8 PM and different admission fees for residents and non-residents.
The pool provides a protected habitat for the Barton Springs Salamander, an endangered species that exists only in these springs and immediate surroundings.

Austin bears no resemblance to any other Texas city. Here, music escapes from bars before dusk, food trucks mingle with concert halls, and parks stretch to the Colorado River. As Texas's capital and self-proclaimed live music capital, the city brings together students, artists, and travelers seeking that unique energy found only here. Between its museums, natural swimming pools, and vibrant neighborhoods, Austin is explored on foot, by bike, or to the sound of a guitar. From Zilker Park to the Capitol, from South Congress to East Sixth Street, each place tells a part of this free and inventive local culture. A city apart, balancing nature, creativity, and the simple pleasure of outdoor living.
