MAMO Marseille Modulor, Art center on Le Corbusier's Cité Radieuse rooftop in Marseille, France
MAMO presents contemporary art exhibitions in a converted former gymnasium space at the summit of the modernist residential building Cité Radieuse.
Designer Ora-Ito transformed this rooftop space into an art center in 2013, following the restoration works after a significant fire in 2012.
The center's name combines Marseille with Modulor, referencing Le Corbusier's architectural measurement system based on human proportions and the golden ratio.
Located at 280 Boulevard Michelet, the exhibition space welcomes visitors daily between 11:00 and 18:00 to discover temporary contemporary art installations.
Artists create site-specific installations that interact with the concrete architecture and panoramic views across Marseille from the UNESCO-listed building's rooftop.
