Musée des Arts décoratifs, de la Faïence et de la Mode

The museum occupies the Château Borély and displays furniture, ceramics, glassware, tapestries, and fashion pieces from various periods. The works span from historical craft traditions to contemporary design arranged throughout the historic residence.

The Château Borély was constructed between 1767 and 1778 when prosperous Marseille merchants built grand residences on the outskirts of the city. The building emerged during a period of commercial growth in the port city.

The rooms display exceptional earthenware from Marseille and Moustiers alongside leather wall coverings and wallpapers that reflect local craft traditions. These objects show how decorative arts shaped daily life in the region for generations.

The museum welcomes visitors from Tuesday through Sunday and offers wheelchair accessibility throughout the building. Plan to spend several hours exploring the different rooms and temporary exhibitions on display.

Artist Mathieu Lehanneur created a contemporary chandelier specifically designed for the museum's interior spaces. Tapestries by Laurence Aegerter and mirrors by Hubert Legall were also commissioned to complement the rooms.
