Parc Borély, Public park in Marseille, France
Parc Borély is a public green space in Marseille along the Mediterranean waterfront with formal French beds, English landscape areas, a rose collection, and a Chinese garden section. The site covers roughly 17 hectares (42 acres) with lawns, a pond, and an 18th-century mansion.
A wealthy merchant commissioned a grand country house on the land from 1767 onward. The city later acquired the property and converted it into a public space.
The southern edge opens directly onto the Mediterranean, creating a smooth transition between planted areas and the sandy shore along the Prado beaches. Visitors move easily between shaded paths and open waterfront space.
The grounds open daily in the early morning and close in the evening, depending on the season. Several entrances make access easy, and wide paths lead to play areas, sports equipment, and refreshment stands.
A botanical garden holds over 3,500 plant species from different climate zones. The museum of decorative arts, earthenware, and fashion occupies the historic château.
