Pasjača, Beach in Popovići, Croatia
Pasjača is a beach in Popovići on the Croatian coast that stretches roughly 80 meters along steep cliffs. The shoreline consists of a mix of sand and gravel meeting the clear waters of the Adriatic Sea.
This beach formed in the 1950s as a byproduct of tunnel construction work, when excavated material was dropped from a roughly 200-meter cliff into the sea. Over the decades, ocean currents transformed those stone fragments into a natural sandy shore.
The secluded location of this beach reflects the Konavle region's connection to nature, where visitors experience Croatian coastal traditions without modern facilities.
The beach is only reachable via a steep descent on narrow paths from the parking area and has no facilities. Visitors should bring all necessary supplies such as water and food.
The shoreline is continuously renewed by ocean waves that transform the original construction debris into sand and gravel. This natural process makes the coastline a living monument to unintended human influence.
