Fishermans Beach

Fishermans Beach extends roughly 500 meters from Collaroy rock pool northward toward Long Reef, characterized by golden sand and clear water. The shore is equipped with parking areas, public phones, shops, drinking water stations, and toilets.

During the 18th century, this beach functioned as a small port where traders loaded cattle onto ships bound for Sydney markets. This early maritime activity defined the site's economic importance.

Local fishermen actively use the eastern boat ramp for launching, maintaining a working maritime tradition that shapes the character of this coastal spot. This everyday practice links the beach to its seafaring past.

The beach is easily reached by bus, with regular connections to central Sydney for visitors without a car. Pay attention to the rock formations in the southern section, which become partially visible at low tide.

The southern section preserves fossils within rock formations, including ancient shells and fish bones from distant geological time. These stone records reveal the prehistoric coastal history of this location.
