Woolgoolga Beach

Woolgoolga Beach is a sandy stretch roughly 1.5 kilometers long where Norfolk Island pines grow along the coastal path. The shoreline runs through the town, creating a backdrop for local activity and recreation.

The Gumbaynggirr people held deep ties to this coastal region for thousands of years before European arrival. Settlement brought significant changes to how the landscape and location developed over time.

The beach functions as a gathering place where locals and visitors come together for markets, festivals, and community celebrations throughout the year. These events shape the rhythm of life in the area and create spaces where people naturally meet.

Lifeguards patrol the water from September through April, and wheelchair-accessible paths and restrooms are available throughout the area. The beach is easy to reach and navigate, making it welcoming for different visitors.

From May through November, visitors can spot humpback whales passing by during their annual migration when viewing from the nearby headland. This seasonal occurrence draws people who want to watch the whales as they move along the coast.
