Plage de la Fontanette, Mediterranean beach in Saint-Tropez, France
Plage de la Fontanette is a sandy and pebbly beach located on the eastern side of Saint-Tropez Bay. The shore faces the open Mediterranean with views across the water to the village buildings perched on the hillside behind.
This beach kept its original character while Saint-Tropez transformed from a quiet fishing village into a fashionable resort during the 1950s. The cove remained largely unchanged as development focused on other parts of the town.
Fishermen work near this beach and keep the maritime tradition alive that has always shaped this coastal area. The small harbor alongside shows the close bond between the village and the sea that remains visible today.
The beach is reached by descending stairs from Place Cavaillon, and parking is available on nearby streets and in small garages within easy walking distance. Early morning or late afternoon visits tend to be less crowded than midday.
This is one of only three small coves in Saint-Tropez, giving it an intimate feeling quite different from the larger popular beaches in the area. This smaller size means visitors can enjoy the place without being overwhelmed by crowds.
