Golf de Lacanau Océan, Golf course in Lacanau Ocean, France.
Golf de Lacanau Océan is an 18-hole par-72 course stretching 5,934 meters through a dense pine forest. The layout sits positioned between the Atlantic Ocean and Lacanau Lake, with numerous water features integrated throughout the layout.
Designed in 1980 by golf architect John Harris, the course established itself as one of the first major golf destinations in the Gironde region. This creation helped bring the sport to southwest France and grow its popularity locally.
The course hosts regional championships and attracts golfers from across the region who gather to compete and practice. Visitors can experience how the sport brings together players of various skill levels throughout the year.
The facility offers 48 practice tees including 18 covered positions, putting greens, and practice bunkers for golfers of all abilities. A clubhouse restaurant and equipment rental are available on-site for visitor convenience.
The fairways are laid out in a star-shaped pattern winding through the forest with numerous water hazards strategically placed throughout. This distinctive design demands precise shot placement and strategic thinking on nearly every hole.
