Plage de la Croix des Marins

Plage de la Croix des Marins is a sandy coastal beach along Avenue de la Baie, marked by a stone cross near the roadway and stretching between dining establishments and a nautical center. The shoreline is gently sloping with views across the bay.

The beach has long served as a hub for maritime activities and takes its name from the stone cross that once guided local boat traffic. The shoreline developed naturally over time while remaining central to fishing and seafaring traditions.

The northern section connects to oyster farming areas where visitors can sample fresh seafood in traditional wooden huts while observing how local families have worked the waters for generations.

Swimming is best at high tide when the water covers the beach, though the area remains open all day for walking and picnicking. Sturdy footwear helps since the exposed mudflats can be slippery at low tide.

The beach experiences extreme tidal swings compared to other nearby shores, transforming the landscape dramatically throughout each day. At low tide, vast mudflats emerge revealing an entirely different character from the waterscape at high tide.
