The area took its name from the Bezistan, a covered market built in the 17th century that housed numerous shops. The tree stood amid this busy trading zone and witnessed its evolution over time.
This place serves today as a gathering spot where locals come to rest and spend time together. The tree remains woven into daily life and community interactions throughout the year.
The site is located near the Castle Gate and is easily reached on foot from the town center. Visitors can find shade under the tree on warm days and combine the visit with nearby attractions.
The tree is estimated to be over 500 years old, making it one of the oldest living witnesses to the city's past. This longevity has helped establish it as a symbol of continuity through all the changes the city has undergone.
