Parish Nuestra Señora de Balvanera

Parish Nuestra Señora de Balvanera is a Renaissance church featuring a large central dome and twin bell towers that define its exterior profile. The building displays brick and stone construction with classical Renaissance architectural elements in its overall layout and details.

Construction of the church began in 1839 during the presidency of Juan Manuel de Rosas, with architect José Santos Sartorio completing the initial structure in 1842. The final facade and additional architectural elements were completed in 1930, giving the building its present appearance.

The church is dedicated to Saint Expeditus, a saint particularly venerated by the local Catholic community. Visitors can observe the faithful lighting candles and praying in the pews, which shapes the spiritual character of the place.

The church is located near Bartolomé Mitre street and is accessible daily to visitors. There are no special entry restrictions, but visitors should be respectful during active worship services.
