Bar La Perla stands at Rivadavia and Jujuy, facing Plaza Miserere in Balvanera. The corner building has a red brick upper facade and dark-framed windows and doors below, with a rounded awning sign band reading "La Perla Bar", "CUNA DEL ROCK" and "bar-restaurante". It closed on 14 January 2017 and reopened a month later as a pizzeria after full renovation.

In the 1920s La Perla was a meeting place for young intellectuals, among them Jorge Luis Borges, who came to hear Macedonio Fernández speak on metaphysics and philosophy. In 1957 the Tacuara Nationalist Movement was founded here, and in 1967 Rodolfo Galimberti launched JAEN from the same bar. Declared a Site of Cultural Interest in 1994, it closed on 14 January 2017 and reopened a month later as a pizzeria, keeping only the plaque by the bathroom doors.

The bar's name, La Perla del Once, refers to the Once district where it stood at Rivadavia and Jujuy. In the 1960s it was one of the venues, alongside La Cueva, where Argentine rock took shape; Tanguito and Lito Nebbia wrote La balsa in its bathrooms in May 1967. The sign above the entrance still reads "Cuna del Rock".
