Museo De Los Niños Abasto, Children's museum in Abasto Shopping Center, Buenos Aires, Argentina
Museo De Los Niños Abasto is an interactive children's museum inside the Abasto Shopping Center in Buenos Aires, spanning several floors. It offers a miniature city with different stations where children learn about professions and try them out firsthand.
The museum opened in the renovated Abasto Shopping Center, which was previously a historic market. Transforming part of the shopping complex into a learning space for children gave the area a new purpose.
In the themed zones, children often wear work costumes matching different jobs and use props that feel realistic. The approach introduces everyday routines and social roles through play, while young visitors take active part and make decisions.
The museum sits on the second floor of the shopping center at Avenida Corrientes 3247 and opens Tuesday through Sunday from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The facility works best for children aged 3 to 12, who can move freely between stations.
Children can stand in front of cameras in a replica television studio and record short programs. In another area, a small town has working traffic lights, crosswalks, and road signs where children learn to navigate street traffic.
