Plages du Mourillon, Mediterranean beach complex in Toulon, France
Plages du Mourillon consists of four sandy bays stretching from Fort Louis to the Yacht Club, with a palm-lined promenade along the shore.
The artificial beaches were created in the 1970s using natural sand from eastern Var, replacing the original pebble coves that existed before.
The beach area features multiple seasonal events throughout the year, including pirogue competitions, jazz festivals, and French Air Force aerial demonstrations.
The beaches provide 1,300 free parking spaces, showers, restrooms, lifeguards during summer season, and dedicated areas for water sports activities.
A mobile library service called 'Lire à la plage' allows visitors to borrow books directly on the beach during summer months.
