Sentier Des Douaniers

The Sentier des Douaniers is a coastal hiking path connecting the Sanguinaires area to Saint-Antoine beach. The route follows dirt paths across sections of shore with rocky areas and natural stone formations.

The path originated as a patrol route used by French customs officers who monitored the coast over many centuries. This historical role shaped the trail and gave it the name by which it is known today.

The path passes near traditional homes and fields where locals cultivate crops using time-honored methods. Visitors walk past the everyday rhythms of Corsican village life as they follow the route.

The path is manageable on foot but requires careful footing on slippery rocky sections in some spots. Sturdy shoes and plenty of water are important, especially on warmer days.

Wooden markers guide hikers throughout the entire path, making navigation straightforward without GPS. These simple signs are reliable and help visitors stay on course.
