Freibad Rosental
Freibad Rosental is a large outdoor swimming facility in Stuttgart-Vaihingen with multiple pools of different sizes and depths. It contains a 50-meter Olympic pool with eight lanes, children's areas with shallow water, a 3-meter (10 feet) diving tower, a water slide over 100 meters (330 feet) long, bubble pools, and a separate sunbathing lawn of about 6000 square meters (65,000 square feet) for naturists.
The facility underwent major modernization in the late 1990s, with pools renovated and facilities updated to contemporary standards. This renovation transformed it into a modern recreation facility and helped establish it as a popular gathering place for families and athletes today.
The facility takes its name from the Rosental neighborhood in Stuttgart and serves as a meeting place where locals spend their summer free time together. You can observe families gathered on the grass, sports enthusiasts using the courts, and a dedicated section for naturists that reflects a longstanding tradition in the region.
The facility operates from May through September and is easily accessible by public transport, with Vaihingen train station and several bus lines nearby. It is advisable to arrive early to secure a good spot on the grass, and the facilities such as changing cabins and showers are simple but sufficient for a full day of visits.
The facility boasts one of the largest sunbathing areas in all of Stuttgart with over 2700 square meters (29,000 square feet) of water surface, and children can enjoy a giant playground with a large play ship and a mud play area for creative play. This combination of spacious lounging areas and dedicated play zones keeps families coming back repeatedly.
