Strandbad Otto-Maigler-See
Otto-Maigler-See is a public beach facility in Hürth with a sandy shore about 500 meters long and shallow areas for swimming. The water reaches depths of up to 7 meters and accommodates various activities including water sports such as sailing and rowing, as well as relaxing on the grass.
The facility began operations in the 1970s when the Hausmann family took over and developed the site over time. What started as a simple refreshment spot evolved into an established beach venue with modern facilities including a beach club and lakeside terrace.
The site has served as a gathering place for people seeking relaxation by the water since the 1970s. Different areas such as the beach club with white sand and the lake terrace with water views create a vacation-like atmosphere within reach of Cologne.
The location is easily reached by bus 711, which stops at 'Hürth Zur Gotteshülfe' about a 10-minute walk from the beach. For those driving, free parking is available right at the lake on Schnellermaarstraße with ample space for visitors.
The beach club in the northern section offers an unexpected vacation feel with white sand and bamboo palms that evoke tropical destinations. This specially designed area stands apart from the main beach and creates a different experience for visitors seeking holiday ambiance without traveling far.
