Plage Cala-Iris

Cala Iris is a beach along a crescent-shaped bay in the Al Hoceima region with mountains forming natural borders on either side. Clear blue waters line the shoreline, while the landscape presents a mix of sea and rocky slopes.

The area was once a key point for sea trade between Europe and Africa and bears traces of ancient Mediterranean routes. Over centuries, it has maintained its importance as a harbor location and continues to shape the local economy today.

The name refers to the mythological goddess Iris, reflecting the maritime connection that has shaped this coast for centuries. Fishermen still work with traditional methods today, and their boats and nets are a regular part of the bay's daily rhythm.

The beach requires a short walk from the main road, and facilities on site are limited. Visitors should bring water, food, and sun protection, as shops and restaurants nearby are scarce.

A flat islet off the coast is home to a rare species of limpet found in only a few places in the Mediterranean. The islet is protected and offers a distinctive view from the shore.
