Las Delicias Waterfall, Tropical waterfall in Jayuya, Puerto Rico.
Cascada Las Delicias consists of two waterfalls dropping about 10 meters into a natural pool set within thick forest cover. The water flows through dense woodland, creating a green and wet environment surrounded by vegetation and rocks.
This waterfall served as a crucial water source for local mountain communities during the early Spanish colonial era. It has remained integral to the region's rural water use and daily life.
The waterfall sits in an area marked by indigenous rock carvings that reveal the presence of Taíno people in this mountain region. You can observe traces of these early inhabitants at nearby sites.
Access is via PR-533, with parking located about 300 feet (90 meters) east of the road bridge before the hiking trail. The walk is fairly short, though the ground can be slippery after rain due to moisture and rock surfaces.
The upper waterfall section drops onto a rock ledge, creating the possibility of a hidden natural alcove underneath that remains largely unexplored. This hidden formation draws visitors who want to look beyond what is immediately visible.
