Chateau Purcari

Château Purcari is a winery and wine room in Purcari, Moldova, stretching across more than 250 hectares of vineyards. The estate includes a French-style chateau, two lakes, a restaurant, and cellars where wine matures in French oak barrels.

The estate was founded in 1827 as the first specialized winery in Bessarabia. It gained international recognition at the 1878 Paris World Expo, where its wines attracted significant attention.

The winery produces Negru de Purcari, a wine that won gold in Paris because French experts initially mistook it for French wine. This result shows how the estate has refined its craft and earned its reputation across the world.

Visitors can book wine tastings and winery tours, as well as ride catamarans on the lakes or cycle through the vineyards. The estate is open from early morning until evening each day, allowing time for various activities.

The cellars operate with precisely controlled conditions to ensure proper maturation, producing around two million bottles annually. This output includes various wine lines and limited editions sought by collectors worldwide.
