Orient Bay, Caribbean beach in Saint-Martin, France
Orient Bay is a two-kilometer stretch of sand along the Atlantic coast of Saint-Martin, featuring white sand and clear water framed by palm trees and tropical vegetation. Water sports operators, restaurants, and rental services line the shoreline throughout its length.
The area remained largely undeveloped until 1985, when initial construction projects began to reshape it into a destination for recreation and tourism. This early development set the foundation for its current use and facilities.
The beach reflects a blend of French and Caribbean traditions through its dining establishments, where visitors enjoy fresh seafood and local dishes prepared using island ingredients and recipes. This food culture represents how the community connects to the land and ocean around it.
Beach chairs, umbrellas, and equipment rentals for water sports like windsurfing, kitesurfing, and jet skiing are available throughout the shore. Most services cluster along the waterfront where staff and signs make them easy to find.
The southern end of the bay contains an area where visitors can sunbathe without clothing, a tradition rooted in the beach's early history. This section gives the place a different character from most other Caribbean beaches in the area.
