Pantai Prigi

Pantai Prigi is a sand beach in the Watulimo district of East Java that stretches for several kilometers along the Java Sea. The shore has soft sand and calm waters, with palm trees growing along the water's edge.

The bay has served as a natural harbor for generations of fishermen since the colonial era, allowing them to safely anchor boats and land their catches. This long fishing tradition shapes the character of the place.

Local fishermen hold an annual ceremony at the shore where they release offerings into the water as thanks for the bounty of fish and seafood they catch. This custom reflects how deeply the community depends on and respects the sea as a source of livelihood.

The beach has parking areas and food stalls near the entrance, making it easy to spend a full day by the water. Boats are available to rent for anyone interested in exploring the coast from the sea.

Surrounding hills shield the bay from strong waves, making this southern Java beach much calmer than typical coastal areas for swimming. This natural protection from the hills allows comfortable water activities even when sea conditions are rough elsewhere.
