Plaża Smocza, Sand beach in Krzyżowniki-Smochowice, Poznań, Poland.
Plaża Smocza is located on the southeastern shore of Lake Kierskie and features a 45-meter sandy shoreline with designated swimming zones for both beginners and experienced swimmers. The beach is equipped with modern facilities including sanitary amenities, a children's playground with rope elements, and a marina.
The beach underwent significant development in 2017 when a floating pier was constructed using funds from the Poznań Participatory Budget. The marina was completed in 2018 and established new standards for waterfront facilities in the region.
The beach serves as a gathering place for water sports enthusiasts, especially sailors and ice boaters who come from throughout the Greater Poland region. Visitors use the location year-round for their water-based pursuits.
From April through September, the beach provides lifeguard supervision, modern sanitary facilities, a children's playground, and equipment rentals for water activities. The marina features composite wood docks with water and electrical connections for mooring various watercraft.
The location was a winner of a participatory budget, showing how local communities vote on public improvements. This makes it an example of citizen-designed infrastructure in the city.
