The beach extends along the Atlantic coast with fine golden sand and clear water, forming part of a 20-kilometer stretch of continuous coastline.
The area transformed from a simple fishing village into a beach destination during the 1950s when Lisbon residents started crossing the Tagus for weekend retreats.
Local fishermen continue their traditional practices along the shore, maintaining nets and boats while sharing maritime knowledge through generations.
Visitors can reach the beach by taking bus routes 3709 or 3710 from Lisbon, crossing the 25th of April Bridge with a journey time of 30 minutes.
Behind the beach dunes stand rows of wooden houses painted in stripes, which evolved from fishing storage units into seasonal holiday accommodations.
