Praia do Vale Espinhaço

Praia do Vale Espinhaço is a sand beach nestled at the bottom of a natural cliff recess with golden sand and clear water surrounded by tall limestone formations. The shore extends approximately 120 meters and features distinctive rocky formations along its edges.

The shore remained a remote coastal location until a lighthouse was built nearby in 1920 to guide ships safely along the coast. This structure has shaped the area's maritime heritage and continues to mark the landscape.

The beach is part of a popular walking route where locals and visitors explore the coastal landscape and discover the geological features of the cliffs.

Access to the shore is challenging without marked pathways from the cliffs above, making it primarily a viewpoint for looking down. Wear sturdy shoes and be prepared for uneven ground if attempting to reach the water level.

A large sinkhole carved into the limestone between the shore and the lighthouse creates striking formations visible from above. This geological feature reveals how water has shaped the rock over thousands of years.
