Playa El Salón

Playa El Salón is a beach around 200 meters long with dark sand and moderate waves, bordered by cliff walls. The rock faces rise roughly 5 to 10 meters (16 to 33 feet) above the water and define the cove's appearance.

This coastal area served as a fishing port where locals built storage spaces carved into the cliffs. These rock cavities reveal the long connection between fishermen and the shoreline in earlier centuries.

The beach hosts music and dance events during Nerja's summer festivals, bringing live performances to the shoreline. Visitors experience how this spot has become a gathering place for local celebrations and entertainment.

The beach has showers, changing areas, sun lounger rentals, and lifeguards on duty throughout the day. Close by you will find numerous restaurants and cafes serving food and drinks within easy walking distance.

Fishermen once carved storage spaces into the cliff walls to keep their equipment safe. These hollows were later converted into small summer homes, creating an unusual building style you can spot today.
