Burriana Beach, Sand beach in Málaga Province, Spain

Burriana Beach is a sand beach on the Mediterranean coast in the province of Málaga, southern Spain. It runs for a considerable length, with shallow, calm water close to the shore and rocky outcrops at its edges.

The area around Burriana Beach was once a small fishing village that depended closely on the sea. Over time, the growth of coastal tourism along the Costa del Sol transformed it into a popular destination for visitors from across Europe.

The name Burriana likely comes from an old Arabic or Valencian place name, and locals still use it naturally in everyday speech. Early in the morning, small fishing boats can sometimes be seen near the shore, a reminder of how closely the coastal community has always lived alongside the sea.

Arriving early in the morning is a good idea, especially in summer, to find a comfortable spot before the beach fills up. The rocky areas at the edges are worth exploring on foot, though solid shoes make it easier to move around there.

At low tide, the rocky edges of the beach reveal small crabs and shells tucked into crevices, making that part of the shore surprisingly interesting to explore. These same rocks also offer an unexpected vantage point from which the whole beach looks quite different.
