Playa de la Yerbabuena

Playa de la Yerbabuena is approximately 950 meters long and features white sand with clear water along the Barbate coastline. The beach is bordered by rock formations and flanked by natural pine groves.

The beach takes its name from natural water springs that emerged from nearby cliffs and were historically used by residents as sources of fresh water. These springs shaped how people used the area for generations.

The beach is home to an annual surf championship that attracts competitive riders from across Spain. This event has shaped the area's identity as a destination for water sports enthusiasts.

The beach is accessed via an unpaved path on the left side of the road connecting Barbate to Los Caños. Walking the path is straightforward during dry conditions.

This location features the longest right-breaking wave in Andalusia under certain tide conditions. The wave formation here allows experienced riders to experience extended rides that are rare elsewhere in the region.
