Fort Clarence Beach, Public beach in Hellshire, Jamaica
This beach extends for 417 meters along the coast, featuring white sand shores bordered by sand dunes and native vegetation.
The beach takes its name from the Duke of Clarence, later King William IV, and formerly contained a military fortification during colonial times.
The beach serves as a gathering place for local events, with regular seafood festivals in August that bring together regional cooking traditions.
Entrance fees are 1000 Jamaican dollars for adults and 500 for children, with the beach operating Wednesday through Sunday from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
The protected shoreline functions as a nesting site for sea turtles and contains diverse coastal plant species including sea grape and seaside mahoe.
