Playa Sardinera

Playa Sardinera is a sand beach in Carrizales where a natural rock wall along the shoreline creates protected pools of varying depths. The water area is separated into distinct swimming zones by a natural coral barrier formation mixed with smooth stones and soft sand.

The beach in Hatillo developed as a meeting point for local families during the early growth of Puerto Rico's northern coast. Its location made it easily accessible to fishermen and families from the surrounding area over the decades.

Local fishermen have used this beach as a working place for generations, and you can watch pelicans diving for fish throughout the day.

The beach is easy to reach and offers parking directly on site with basic facilities available. Bring your own towel and water shoes, as the amenities on location are simple.

The beach shifts seasonally with pools becoming deeper or shallower depending on the time of year. These natural changes create different swimming options that vary from fall through spring months.
