La Collection de Voitures de SAS le Prince de Monaco, Transport museum in Port Hercule, Monaco
This museum displays approximately 70 vehicles across 3,500 square meters, featuring vintage cars, racing vehicles, and luxury automobiles from European and American makers. The collection ranges from early classics to modern cars and is housed in the Fontvieille neighborhood.
Prince Rainier III began collecting automobiles in the late 1950s, acquiring an early 1903 De Dion Bouton Phaeton as one of the first pieces. The collection was later moved from the Palace garage to its current location in Fontvieille.
The collection includes the 1956 Chrysler Imperial that brought Grace Kelly to Monaco and a specially modified Lexus from 2011 used during a royal wedding. These cars tell the story of how automobiles became woven into the moments that shaped the principality's royal family.
The museum welcomes visitors daily and offers guided tours throughout the collection. Plan to spend two or three hours to comfortably explore the exhibition at your own pace.
The museum houses racing cars that competed in the Monaco Grand Prix as well as vehicles that participated in the Monte Carlo Rally. These famous competition vehicles show the deep connection between the principality and motorsport.
