St Nicholas the Miracle-Maker is a Russian Orthodox church in central Sofia featuring five golden domes and colorful tiles on its exterior walls. The structure displays Russian Revival architectural style with distinctive elements covering its façade and roof design.
Construction started in 1907 replacing a former mosque site, and the church was completed in 1914 as the official place of worship for the Russian Embassy. This project marked a shift in the land's use and the city's religious landscape.
The interior shows Orthodox Christian religious art that reflects Eastern spiritual traditions. Visitors can see religious symbols and artistic details throughout the space.
This place opens daily to visitors and is located on Tsar Osvoboditel Boulevard, easily walkable from downtown Sofia. It helps to be aware of respectful conduct inside the church and to check camera policies before entering.
Below the church lies a crypt holding the tomb of Saint Archbishop Seraphim. Many visitors leave written prayer requests there as a sign of personal devotion.
