Etteplanek, Dwarf statue in Szczepin, Wrocław, Poland.
Etteplanek is one of hundreds of small bronze figures measuring between 20 and 30 centimeters (10-12 inches) that adorn the streets and buildings of Wrocław. These tiny sculptures decorate the city and invite visitors to discover them during walks through the streets.
The dwarf project started in 2005 as a tribute to the Orange Alternative movement, an artistic group from the time of change that resisted the regime. This specific figure was installed in 2016 and is part of the ongoing expansion of this collection.
This figure belongs to a collection of over 800 dwarves that shape Wrocław's character and represent various aspects of local life. Each statue tells a story about the city and its people.
This small statue is located near streets in the Szczepin neighborhood and can be found using digital maps or special dwarf hunting apps. It helps to walk slowly and look carefully at buildings and lower parts of facades, where many of these figures are hidden.
Many of these dwarves were commissioned by local businesses, shops, and organizations that connect their own stories to the figures. This means new statues are constantly being added, and each has its own connection to the community.
