Gongutúrur / Hvithamar Trailhead

Gongutúrur/Hvithamar Trailhead is a network of hiking paths in Funningur on the Faroe Islands that takes hikers through steep coastal cliffs, grassy slopes, and valleys with native vegetation. The routes connect various viewpoints and natural features across terrain that changes from open moorland to sheltered valleys.

The paths follow ancient routes used since the Norse settlement period to connect villages and enable trade between communities across the islands. These pathways have remained in continuous use for over a thousand years, serving different purposes across centuries.
