Breche Gardens

Breche Gardens is a park covering 4 hectares in central Niort with different areas for scents, seasonal flowers, and natural habitats. The space features a children's play area with slides and underground trampolines, plus a separate section for dogs.

The park began in the 18th century as a central marketplace for agricultural fairs in the city. In 1974 it became a parking lot, before being developed back into a garden later.

Two bronze sculptures on a bench show women from different backgrounds and represent exchange between various communities. These works are woven into the park's design and invite visitors to think about diversity.

The park is easy to explore with well-marked paths suitable for walking with children and pets. Visitors should note there are shaded areas and sunny spots for resting throughout.

The irrigation system uses collected rainwater to maintain the green spaces, showing environmental care in urban gardening. This sustainable approach saves water and reduces reliance on supply lines.
