Construction of the church began in 1491 and was completed in 1534, replacing an earlier Romanesque structure. The building underwent further modifications and additions during the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries.
The church holds several chapels, including one commemorating local martyrs who refused to sign official documents during the French Revolution. This space reflects the religious resistance that ran deep in the region.
