Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Carrodilla, Catholic church in Distrito Carrodilla, Argentina.
Parroquia Nuestra Señora de la Carrodilla is a Catholic church with colonial architectural features spread across a small complex on the edge of vineyards. The main structure contains a central nave, side chapels, and a bell tower, while adjoining spaces hold a museum of Indigenous artifacts, a separate chapel dedicated to Our Lord of Health, and stations marking a devotional walking path.
The church originated when the Solanilla family brought a venerated image of Our Lady of Carrodilla from Estadilla, Spain to Argentina during the 18th century. This religious center grew from that founding act and the colonial mansion of the Solanilla family later became home to the Indigenous Statuary Museum.
The church draws worshippers from the wine harvest season, particularly those working in the surrounding vineyards who come to pray for good crops. Local families also gather here for celebrations tied to the Vendimia wine festival, blending faith with regional traditions.
The complex sits on the outskirts with walking paths that connect the church, museum, and other buildings, making it easy to move between spaces. Morning or late afternoon visits work well as you can explore comfortably without intense midday sun beating down on the vineyard surroundings.
The museum portion contains a collection of Indigenous sculptures and regional artifacts rarely displayed in other places, housed within the restored rooms of the former Solanilla family mansion. Many visitors come for the church and do not realize this cultural repository exists steps away.
