RISD Design Center
The RISD Design Center is a hub for creativity and hands-on work on North Main Street in Providence. The building has large windows, high ceilings, and open spaces where students and artists work on projects, set up exhibitions, and develop new ideas.
The building was designed in 1984 by Ellenzweig Moore and Associates to create space for projects and ideas. Over the years, the center has grown into a place where many artists and designers have learned and expanded their skills.
The center takes its name from the Rhode Island School of Design and connects learning with hands-on work. Students and artists gather here daily to sketch at tables, build models, or develop digital projects.
Visitors can walk through the galleries, which feature rotating exhibitions, and attend open workshops or talks. The staff is helpful, and parking as well as accessible facilities are available.
The center has a store that sells art supplies such as paper, ink, and brushes. Students can receive discounts and benefit from tax exemptions when purchasing with their registration ID.
