Montmeyan plage

Montmeyan plage is a sandy beach along the Quinson reservoir, stretching beneath steep limestone cliffs and surrounded by Mediterranean plants. The shallow water here makes it safe for swimming, and visitors can easily access the shoreline from well-maintained paths through the vegetation.

The lake formed in the 1960s when a dam was built to control the Verdon river, creating this body of water where none existed before. Since then, the area has developed into a recreational zone supporting water activities and local communities.

The beach serves as a gathering place where local residents participate in seasonal festivals celebrating regional traditions through food and music events.

The beach is easily accessible by car with parking available nearby, and facilities like restrooms and picnic areas are found throughout the zone. It becomes crowded on weekends and summer holidays, so visiting on weekdays or in shoulder seasons provides a more relaxed experience.

Reed beds grow along the shoreline here, providing habitat for European pond turtles and other aquatic creatures. This natural area shows how the landscape has regained balance after the dam creation, becoming an important refuge for local wildlife.
