Les Jardins du Manoir d'Eyrignac
Les Jardins du Manoir d'Eyrignac is a garden complex in the Périgord Noir region spanning roughly ten hectares with seven distinct garden areas surrounding the manor. The property combines a 17th and 18th century manor house with carefully sculpted topiary formations from boxwood, yew, cypress, and cedar, all maintained by hand.
The family established and developed this place some 500 years ago, systematically adding different garden areas over time. The manor remains actively inhabited today, demonstrating a continuous tradition of care and improvement across generations.
The name Eyrignac comes from Occitan and means "where water flows", reflecting the region's long connection to water. The family has maintained these gardens as an expression of French horticultural tradition, where natural forms and precise craftsmanship merge.
The grounds are open year-round with two main walking routes of 2.5 and 4.5 kilometers through forest and garden areas. Picnic spots, a tea pavilion, a terrace restaurant, and accessible pathways for those with mobility needs are available, and leashed dogs are welcome.
The gardens contain roughly 300 different topiary shapes, each sculpted and maintained over years with considerable patience. This extensive collection of plant sculptures resulted from specialized techniques passed down through generations of the family.
