Ride the Flyer
Ride the Flyer is a flying theater and ticket shop at Pier 39 in San Francisco, the only one of its kind in Northern California. The two-level theater uses moving seats and wide-screen visuals to simulate a flight over the city and its surrounding landmarks.
Pier 39 opened as a waterfront entertainment and shopping destination in the late 1970s and gradually attracted a range of attractions over the years. Ride the Flyer was added later as a modern flight experience, bringing an interactive element to the pier that goes beyond traditional fairground rides.
Ride the Flyer sits on the second level above the Hard Rock Cafe at Pier 39, one of San Francisco's busiest waterfront destinations. Visitors arriving for the flight find themselves surrounded by shops, seafood restaurants, and street performers just steps away.
The entrance is on the second level above the Hard Rock Cafe, so it helps to allow a few extra minutes to find it. Booking tickets online in advance is a good idea, since the pier can get very busy on weekends and during holidays.
Tickets purchased for the experience remain valid for a full year from the date of purchase, giving visitors a lot of flexibility in planning their visit. The theater is also designed to be accessible for wheelchair users, with staff available on site to assist if needed.
