"Tetsujin 28-go" Monument, Robotic monument in Nagata Ward, Kobe, Japan.

This 18-meter tall steel sculpture depicts the giant robot Tetsujin 28-go, constructed from 230 weather-resistant steel parts with a total weight of 50 tons and an arm span of 20 meters.

Completed in October 2009 as part of Kobe's post-earthquake reconstruction efforts, the monument honors the work of Mitsuteru Yokoyama, who created the original manga series in 1956.

The monument has become a symbol of local pride for Nagata Ward, bringing together residents and visitors through its connection to this beloved character from Japanese popular culture.

Located in Wakamiya Park, the monument offers free year-round access with informational plaques explaining the character's history and nearby parking facilities for convenient visiting.

The community-driven project involving local merchants and volunteers required two years of design and manufacturing to accurately replicate the robot's proportions at full scale.
