Niagara Waterfall, Waterfall in the countryside near Podgorica, Montenegro.
This waterfall forms as the Cijevna River flows over limestone rocks and creates a series of cascading waters that drop about ten meters into natural pools below.
The waterfall was partially created 150 years ago when local farmers built a dam across the river bed to power a water mill for grinding grain.
According to local legend, the dam was destroyed annually by the swollen river until an old woman advised placing sheep wool between the stones to stabilize it.
The waterfall is located just ten minutes by car from Podgorica and is most spectacular in spring, particularly in March and April, when water flow reaches its peak.
During dry summer months, the waterfall can completely dry up and reveal the natural stone formations created by the river's erosion over time.
