Pointe du Cap Martin
Pointe du Cap Martin is a cape on the Mediterranean coast in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, France. The headland reaches into the sea and is edged by steep rocky cliffs and stands of pine and oak trees.
The Roman road Via Julia Augusta crossed this headland in ancient times, linking Italy to southern France. Later, customs officers used the coastal path to watch for smugglers and pirates.
A wide paved trail runs along the headland and is suitable for walkers. Sturdy shoes are recommended, as some sections near the water cross smooth rocks.
The architect Le Corbusier built a small cabin on the western part of the headland in the 1950s, which still stands today. A statue at the start of the trail recalls his daily walks here.
