Montgomery Distillery is a craft spirits producer in downtown Missoula that operates in a cozy building and offers tasting room experiences for visitors. The facility uses a 450-liter German copper still and produces vodka, gin, aquavit, rye whiskey, wheat whiskey, gin with local botanicals, single malt, and dark chocolate liqueur.

The distillery was founded by craft makers seeking to produce quality spirits using local ingredients and has grown from its early days into a recognized producer. The building where it operates has previously served other purposes in Missoula's past before becoming the home of this craft operation.

Five generations of family ownership have created a craft tradition that reflects Montana's local identity and values. The distillery shows how people here connect their heritage to the spirits they make and share with visitors.

Visitors can take tours of the downtown location and participate in tastings led by knowledgeable staff who explain the production process. The casual setting makes it easy to ask questions and spend time sampling different spirits at your own pace.

A standout spirit called Sudden Wisdom is made from 100 percent rye grown, milled, fermented, and distilled entirely on-site. This fully local production carries notes of spice, dried apple, and leather that evoke the changing seasons.
