Plane Graveyard, Aircraft boneyard in Nagpur, India

Plane Graveyard is an aircraft boneyard at Nagpur airport in India, where retired planes of different models and airlines are left in the open air. The aircraft stand close together, their fuselages and wings rising against the open sky, while paint peels and metal parts are missing.

The site was originally part of Nagpur's regular airport operations before aircraft that could no longer fly were left here rather than scrapped. Over the decades, planes that once served Indian and international airlines, including Air India, gradually accumulated on the ground.

Aviation fans and curious visitors come here to photograph the old aircraft up close. Some fuselages still show the faded logos and liveries of former airlines, hinting at the routes they once flew.

The site sits near Nagpur's airport terminal and can be visited without an entry fee or official guide. Visitors should stay careful around the aircraft, as some parts may be unstable or sharp.

A Boeing 720 reportedly sat here for more than 24 years, tied to the story of an American man who tried to restore it to flying condition before it ended in a crash landing and was left behind. The dry climate around Nagpur slows down rust considerably, which is why many fuselages remain largely in one piece despite their age.
