Louis Fouquet, Confectionery store in Paris, France
Louis Fouquet is a confectionery store on Rue Laffitte in the 9th arrondissement of Paris, in operation since 1852. The shop sells handmade jams, pralines, sour candies, calissons, and fruit pastes, all produced in a workshop behind the sales floor.
The shop was opened in 1852 by Louis Fouquet, who sold homemade jams cooked in copper basins on Rue Laffitte. The Chambeau family later took over and added crystallized fruits, calissons, and sour candies to the range.
The wooden fixtures and cement tiles inside the shop have been kept as they were from the early days. Visitors can see pralines, fruit pastes, and crystallized fruits displayed in cases, all made following recipes passed down within the family.
The boutique is in the 9th arrondissement and is open Monday to Friday. Those looking for a gift can choose from ready-made assortments or ask staff to put together a personalized box with ribbons.
The shop's jams are still made using the same method as in 1852, cooked in open copper basins at low heat. This process keeps the color and flavor of the fruit in a way that sets them apart from anything made industrially.
