Jardin des Voltiges, Outdoor gym in Parc de la Villette, Paris
Jardin des Voltiges is an outdoor gym in the Parc de la Villette in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. The space is divided into several zones for strength training, parkour, cross-training, and freestyle movement, with parallel bars, platforms, climbing structures, and fitness machines spread across the area.
The area was originally a children's playground before it was transformed into a street workout space. It was developed as part of a broader effort to create new outdoor sports facilities in the Parc de la Villette ahead of the Paris 2024 Games.
The name "Voltiges" refers to acrobatic moves found in gymnastics or circus arts, which reflects what visitors actually see here. People gather to train together, share techniques, and watch each other attempt figures on the bars and platforms.
Entry is free and the space is open every day from early morning until late at night, as it is lit after dark. Visitors must be at least 14 years old and at least 4 feet 7 inches (1.40 m) tall to use the equipment, and the site is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
The space was designed with direct input from street workout practitioners, who helped decide how the zones were laid out and which equipment was installed. One section includes a chase tag area, a game where two people try to catch each other across a small obstacle course within a set time.
