La Géode, Geodesic dome theater in Parc de la Villette, Paris, France

The mirrored surface of La Géode consists of 6,433 polished stainless steel triangles arranged on a metal frame to form a sphere of 36 meters in diameter.

Architect Adrien Fainsilber and engineer Gérard Chamayou designed La Géode, which opened its doors to the public on May 6, 1985 at the Cité des Sciences complex.

Before its 2018 closure for renovations, La Géode presented IMAX films on a 1,000-square-meter hemispherical screen with a 21,000-watt surround sound system.

The dome theater stands near two Paris Metro stations: Corentin Cariou on Line 7 and Porte de Pantin on Line 5, making it accessible from central Paris.

The structure features 2,580 steel tube bars connecting the triangular panels, creating a geodesic pattern that reflects the surrounding sky and landscape.
